Geography Overview

Venezuela, also known as the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, is the 33rd biggest country in the world. The country's capital is Caracas, and its population is 28,644,603. Venezuela is bordered by the Caribbean Sea, the Atlantic Ocean to the north, Guyana to the east, Brazil to the south, and Colombia to the southwest and west. Venezuela administers several Caribbean islands and archipelagos and has a total area of 912,050 sq km. The land covers 882,050 sq km of Venezuela's total area while Venezuela's water only covers 30,000 square km, and the coastland is 2,800 km. Its area is about twice the size of California and six times that of Georgia. The highest point in Venezuela is Pico Bolivar, at 4,978 meters, and the lowest point in Venezuela is the Caribbean Sea.  The weather in Venezuela is around 50 degrees Fahrenheit to 96 degrees Fahrenheit. Venezuela gets around 30 inches of rain a year. Some natural hazards that occur in Venezuela are floods, landslides, mudslides, and droughts. A major lake in Venezuela is Lake Maracaibo. Lake Maracaibo has an area of 13,010 sq km. Some major rivers in Venezuela are river Rio Negro which is shared with Columbia and Brazil it has an area of 2,250 km. Another major river in Venezuela is the Orinoco River it is shared with Colombia, and it has a length of 2250 km. Some major watersheds in Venezuela are the Atlantic Ocean, the Amazon River, and the Orinoco River. Overall, Venezuela is a very unique country.
